Hi everyone! At the moment we are a frew days at my gramps house and I am very limited in my craft supplies. But I wanted to create a new card. I had found the Staggered Chevrons impressions folder in my mini stash and the idea for a Great Gatsby inspired New Year card was born.
I apologize for the bad light and the green background, I could only use what I had available here.
Due to the fact that I had not packed much craft stuff, I kept the card very simple. First of all, I cut the champagne glasses from glitter and grey cardstock. I accented the edges with Distress ink vintage photo to help the diecuts stand out more. Then I glued the glitter “champagne” to the glasses. This time I only had only all-purpose-glue available but it worked out quite well.
Background
I cut my Tim Holtz idea-ology champagne craft stock in an angle. Then I placed the Lawn Fawn Happy New Year stamp with the cardstock in my precision press +. Honestly this is not my first choice of stamp positioner and I miss my Misti or my tim Holtz stamping platform. But the result was pretty decent too. I had already tested the Distress Archival ink on a waste piece of craftstock and noticed that it stayed moist on the glossy paper for a relatively long time. So I handeled the stamped craftstock with extra care.
I took some black cardstock from the same dea-ology craft-stock pad and also cut the paper in an angle. The black ones I wanted to impress for a clean and elegant look. Only after I had put the two black cardstock parts together at the cutting edge in the embossing folder did I get the idea that I could have embossed the cardstock first and only then cut it. Okay, bad luck in thinking, but it also worked like this. Actually, the golden stripe should be somewhat narrower. However, I was afraid that the stamp impression was still a little wet and so I left the stripe just yet wider.
Assembly
For a little bit dimenstion I added some foam tape on the back of the champagne glasses and placed them on the card.
After that, I just had to mount the card panel on a base and the card was ready. Even if some things went differently than planned I like the result of the Gatsby inspired New Year card.
I wish you all a happy new year and that 2022 will be a wonderful year for you! I hope, you feel inspired to craft and and stop by my blog again soon.
