Hi everyone! Today I have an Adorable Dragon Card for Valentine´s Day for which I used Tim Holtz´s Rupert on a mixed media background.

As always, I started by searching my stash for matching colors and scraps. Rupert is made up of many smaller pieces. So I placed all tiny parts together on my magnetic platform and magic mat to cut out together in one run.

Then I accentuated the shadows of the individual parts with Distress ink vintage photo and assembled the dragon. My Rupert holds a heart which I cut from Crafter´s Companion Gemini Loving Tags.

I had no detailed plan for my background. I only knew, I would like to use Simon Says Stamp Heart Garland Background stamp. So I tried some combinations of ink and embossing glaze. I stuck with Distress Oxide ink spun sugar and Distress embossing glaze flamingo kitsch. When I put my dragon on the background, I realized that the background was too busy and distracting. So I added some Distress stain gathered twigs to it. This still didn´t help enough to calm the background. Then I added some collage medium matte and covered it with a piece idea-ology collage paper. After the collage medium was dry I grabbed a baby wipe and added some Dylusions white linen paint on top of it. After everything was dry, I cut the edges from the background with my Tim Holtz deckle edge trimmer and mounted all parts to the cardbase.

As a sentiment I chose Simon Says Stamp Garden Greetings “Sending Hugs”. I stamped it in Gina K. Designs amalgam obsidian ink on some leftover cardstock and mounted it on the card.

Here is my finished Valentine´s day card. I hope you feel inspired and check back soon.
