Hi everyone! For a dear friend who helped me a lot with my blog, I wanted to create a special christmas card. She loves the scandinavian style and so I decided to make a Scandi Style Christmas Card. When I searched my stash I found the Ornamental Birds by Tim Holtz.
I searched the internet for Scandinavian style color paletts and matched the results with my paper stash. The Echo Park Winter Solids Kit paper pack came closest to what I had in mind. So I cut all dies from this paper. So I could make sure that I always had the perfect match when mixing.
To the edges for ad some shadows I added some Distress ink Vintage Photo. After that, I mixed the colors and assembled the birds and ornaments.
So that the birds do not simply float in the air I cut some branches from the Holiday Greens mini Set out of white cardstock. Then i glued the birds on the branches. I wanted one bird to hold the christmas ornament with his beak so I cut some silver cord and attached it with Folmoplast on the back of the ornament and the bird. Filmoplast is actually used for paper mending and is very thin and quite durable. It keeps the cord in place and doesn´t create bulck on the back of the ornament.
I took a panel of white cardstock and stamped my Merry Christmas stamp from Simon Says stamp with Distress Archival ink on it. I chose hickory smoke as color as not to stand out soo harshly with the stamp. Then I glued all elements on this panel. To help the white panel to stand out more against the white cardbase, I cut some light blue cardstock slightly bigger than the panel and mounted everything on the cardbase.
