Hi everyone! I made a bunch of christmas ornaments by using a lot of Tim Holtz dies as christmas gifts for my daughter´s after school teachers, caretaker and kitchen staff. This was a project that meant a lot to me and therefore I put a lot of love into it.
Christmas Ornaments – Base
Let´s start with the ornament itself. This was the element that stayed pretty much the same every time. For the back of the ornament I took craftpaper (300 gsm) and covered it with collage paper. After the glue was dry I soften the design of the collage paper with hydrated white gesso. I measured the main elements and chose a circle nesting die, which was slightly bigger than the element and cut it from the craft paper. I chose the front papers to match the main elements which I cut with the same circle die and glued it to the back element. Then I accented the edge of the circle with distress ink vintage photo. To hang the ornaments later on the christmas tree I punched an eyelet with my crop-a-dile on top of the ornament base. To all christmas ornaments I added two to three mini bells.
Also on all ornaments I added a tag with an embossed merry christmas sentiment and on the back of this tag I stamped a “to” and a “from”.
Ornament Woodland Santa
For my first ornament I chose the Woodland Santa. I cut it from different cardstock (mostly scraps). The colors that I did not have in my stash, I created with my dye inks. For example, a part of the white cardstock for the beard I colored with some pumice stone distress oxide ink. To the red clothing parts I added some vintage photo accents. To gave the ornament a little more texture I had spread grit paste snowfall on the tree. I felt the ornament was still a bit empty, so I added a few crystal drops as snowflakes.
Ornament Eugene
Next I made the cute Eugene ornament. This one is for a female teacher so I could use some glitter cardstocks. I used a combination with grit paste and grit paste snowfall to ground the penguin. To fill the empty space I added a 3D snowflake.
Christmas Ornaments – Winston
Winston was made similar to Eugene. But since Winston is for a a male teacher, it glitters much less.
Santa´s Wish Ornament
I made this christmas ornament much more simple because of the recipient.
Ornament Retro Oven – Shaker
Thank you Tim for releasing the retro oven including cookies! I found this one especially fitting for our cook. The sweet cookies had to be specially display so I turned the oven into a shaker element. As icing on the cookies I used Stickles and the gingerbread men got their decoration with a white gel pen. All cookies were decorated on both sides.
Retro TV with snarky cat
The last of my christmas ornaments was the snarky cat in front of the retro TV. As same as the retro oven, I could turn it into a shaker element. For the screen image I used a christmas element from LaBlanche from my stash. To create a little more winter atmosphere I used some fine powder snow. Then I stamped and colored with copic alcohol marker one of the snarky cats and cut it out. In order not to let the cat simply float in the air, I quickly sewed a pillow, which I stuffed with some filler cotton. Then I glued the cat with distress medium matte on the pillow and the pillow on the ornament.
