Keep looking where the light pours in – Artjournal page

Keep looking where the light pours in - Hexagon

Hi folks,

thanks for stopping by. Today I created a new artjournal page for my Art by Marlene journal using her Diecuts and Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Sprays.

Background

For my Background, I chose some colors from Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Sprays. My colors today were: kitsch flamingo, seedless preserves, speckled egg and prize ribbon. I sprayed a light layer of water on the paper to make the colors flow better.

Apparently I hat used too much water, because the colors bled through to the bakc. To shorten the drying time I took my heat tool. I would not have minded if a trace of water had been left behind.

To create more depth in my background, I took my Stampers anonymous stamp from the Entomology collection (CMS328) and stamped randomly on my background without a stamping block. So I got different impressions from this stamp.

For more interest, I diluted some Dina Wakley White Gesso and splattert it over my page with my Stamperia fan brush. After that, I glued my focal point of interest on the page. I took the funny bird from the paper elements pad – artsy Arabia from art by marlene. I also chose a lantern and some stars from the same pad.

Paper element

To better highlight the paper elements, I framed them with my Stabilo All watercolorable pen. So that the frame is not too dominant, i used a brush and water.

I drew in the string for the lantern with a Pigma Micron pen 02 and drew a small loop around the beak of my bird, so the latern is not floating in the air.

After that, I added a few highlights on die diecuts. I used an uni-ball signo pigment white ink gelpen.

I thought the lantern needed some more shine, so I made light rays with golden stickles. To emphasize the eye of the bird, I put a drop of glossy accent on it.

I added a few stars and my quote from Art by Marlenes sticky quotes. The quote “Keep looking where the light pours in” spoke to me very much, as I am convinced that we mostly overlook the small beauties and lights of life.

As a last step I outlined my quote with black pen.
